Yes, that's right, served in Pyrex.
Some of you might think I'm crazy but I loooove to use my Pyrex. I made my favorite fall dish, sweet potatoes layered in Marshmallow's!
Sooo yummy! And I served it in the Primary green mixing bowl! I always make it in that for some reason...does anyone else serve or cook with their Pyrex?
I use every single piece of Pyrex I own except for my orange Butterprint Cinderella bowl set, my New Dots mixing bowl set and my Starburst space saver. They would be way to hard to replace if something happened to them. I think that everything tastes better made in Pyrex, don't you?
ReplyDeleteErica
I wouldn't use those either because they are very rare, and yes everything does taste better in Pyrex....nothing like Pyrex =)
DeleteJust made brownies in Pyrex!!
ReplyDeleteYummy
DeleteThere is no piece of Pyrex I don't use!! I start off every day with fruit in a fridge for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear, some people look at me like im nuts! Because I use Pyrex everyday too.
DeleteFun! Perfect thanksgiving dish :)
ReplyDeleteHonestly, i'm scared to use some of my pyrex... I love them so much that i prefer to have a spare too- id be so upset if sonething broke! But i do use my mixing bowls, cinderella bowls and pyrex plates often.
Really? Well for me, as long as it says oven ware on the bottom or oven proof then I'm okay using it because that's what the made it for, I understand though you feel like it might crack or break..I usually have extra so Im not as scared =)
DeleteMmmm...that looks so yummy!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! I will post the recipe today. It is really good!
DeleteI love using my Pyrex. I remember when I started collecting and had quite a few bowls. I had used them for decor and had not had an opportunity to use anything yet when hubby sheepishly asks, "Am I allowed to use your bowls?" It was so funny. He does all the cooking so for me to be "in control" on one thing in the kitchen was amazing.
ReplyDeleteYour lucky your husband does the cooking, my husband only knows how to reheat and make mac n cheese lol! I do all of the cooking but at least he cleans up for me most of the time!
DeleteI honestly don't see why you would own Pyrex and not use it. Of course if the pieces are rare, then yeah, it makes sense to not use them.
ReplyDeleteWe use our Pyrex almost daily in our home. I giggle everytime I see hubby pull out a piece. He "hates" Pyrex yet uses it. Mwhahaha lol.
Do share your recipe for sweet potatoes. We call them candied yams in the south :). I'd love to see what you may use differently!
-Denise
Me either!!! They look at me like I am crazy but I'm looking at them like their crazy also!! lol.
DeleteHe hates Pyrex??? Oh wow, my husband loves it..he loves when I come home from thrifting and I show him everything he says he loves how I get so excited of what I found and it's like Christmas time every time I come home!
I am going to post my recipe up in a little bit...I got this recipe from my mother in law, and she cooked this when he was a kid so he loves it =)
He doesn't hate hate it. But, he doesn't see the point in my Pyrexia! On the flip side, I do not see his obsession with fishing poles, excessive amount of tools, oodles of hunting clothes and gear. So, we have a mutual..."seriously, that stuff again" understanding.
DeleteI added Pyrex to my Christmas list. He does like antique shopping, so he knows where to go to get my gifts! :)
Oh...I look forward to trying your MIL's recipe!
-Denise
Oh Okay..haha. I also put Pyrex on my Christmas list, that's what my mom is getting me =)
DeleteMy husband LOVES antique shopping, he collects antique knives and steins. That's one thing I have to say we love going antique shopping together. Suppose to go to PA in the beginning of November to go antique shopping!
I told hubby ALL I WANT is Pyrex and a sewing machine. NO clothes, NO accessories...ONLY those 2 things. I think he picked up what I was laying down to him lol.
DeleteHe likes antique knifes, guns, tools or what I like to call...mantiques haha. We usually go seperate ways in a flea market, antique store etc.
I bet the antique shopping in PA is amazing! I can't wait to see what you come home with! :)
Haha awesome, I bet you will get awesome things for christmas. I told my husband to get me anything pyrex or vintage items! No new stuff YUK!
DeleteAlso I asked if he could get me Mad Men series!
Love that show.
Yes PA is AWESOME, I go to ADAMSTOWN. If you get a chance look it up...its a whole town with about 15 stores of antique malls and centers!! You should go there, because you would love it plus they are not expensive!
I will deff post what I find!
Oh my gosh. I just google mapped Adamstown. It's like 13 hours away from me! lol I don't see us making a trip like that too soon.
DeleteHow about I live vicariously through you? haha
I have yet to watch a single episode of Mad Men. What's wrong with me?! :)
Oh wow, that's crazy! It is only 2 hours from me!
DeleteToo bad =(
OMG, you haven't watched Mad Men??? Ohhh you need to watch it ASAP!
If you have Netflix, they have the 4 seasons on there. It is great, you would love it.
They have tons of Vintage Pyrex on there, I spot it all the time!
Nope...never seen it! Lol! We don't have Netflix but I might add the 4 seasons to my Christmas list! :)
DeleteGoodness sweet pot and marshmallow's now that looks and sounds like a great combination is it like a pudding? I use my pryex for serving my food and i also make caserole in one of them. There gorgeous to look at but its nice to use them to ;-) dee x
ReplyDeleteIt is mashed sweet potatoe's! It is AWESOME.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to use them!! I agree....It is more fun!
My favorite dish is candied sweet potatoes. My mother could make the best. Your pie sounds so tasty. I would never attempt to make it.
ReplyDeleteIt is very tasty! Really? It is really easy and you really can't mess it up!
DeleteWe use our Pyrex all the time for everything! I have a special Pyrex cabinet and hubby goes and grabs whatever he wants to use almost daily! He likes them because the bowls are much larger than conventional cereal bowls. The only dishes I don't use for daily use is my true vintage Firstaware. I have new Fiesta for every day use.
ReplyDeleteWe use our newer Fiesta for every day use also. I couldn't imagine using vintage Fiesta everyday! I'd have a heart attack if something were to happen!
DeleteThat's nice! Why don't you use your vintage fiesta? Are they fragile? I don't know because I do not have any fiesta ware. I never got into it.
DeleteI do have vintage pink plates and soup bowls from the 50's that I use from time to time and I also have purple depression glass lunch plates that I use. I do not use anything new! I refuse to.
I'm a firm believer in using my beautiful things. I will put my bagel on a good china plate, things like that. It makes me happy to see my pretty things, to handle them, to get use out of them. Of course I would be sad if something got broken, but I am very careful with them. I gave my husband a tutorial on how to use my vintage pyrex, how to clean it and how to put it away. No cleaning the outside of my autumn harvest bowls with a dish scrubber!! He is the one who does most of the cooking, and while he doesn't understand my pyrexia, he does like to use the bowls.
ReplyDeleteYou think like me! I use EVERYTHING that I have in my kitchen. I use all of my Pyrex and all of my vintage dishes and cups. For me, why should I let it collect dust and stare at it, I would rather use it. And yes I am careful to using it...I don't have a dishwasher to begin with but I always hand wash everything!
DeleteI love using it all because it makes me happy and its fun to use!
I use my Pyrex all the time. I am always happy when I get a new pan to replace an old yucky metal one. My plates are all Spring Blossoms Correlle, too, and I love them. I have some newer Corelle, but it doesn't make me happy like my Spring Blossoms.
