Oh my... Pyrex is taking over

Had to share this picture I took today.

I was cleaning, painting and reorganizing.

Sadly this isn't even all of it. *sigh*

You can see more of the mess at treasuresmyhh.blogspot.com

Thankfully I got it all cleaned before the husband got home. He doesn't need to see all that.

Pyrex on TV

Hello there,
I just emailed PCIII members an invitation to become involved in a TV documentary about people who collect. Producer Alex is looking for Pyrex collectors. Please email me if you did not receive the email, or if your are not an author on the Pyrex Collective, but would like to get involved. monkeyintherocket@yahoo.ca

P.S. I will try to email PCI and PCII authors when I find my bleeping address book. I just moved and everything is still boxed up.
Cheers,
Canadian Erin
So it's been awhile since I posted on the collective, but I was browsing shopgoodwill.com and found this little mystery pyrex. I've never seen this pattern before, anyone know what it's called?

Hello Sunshine!

Stopped at the Goodwill today...looked like nothing.  Then I saw the sun shining through the mass of white corningware and glass baking dishes.  Oh yes!  This little round citrus with the milk glass lid completes my set of three!  My others have the glass lids, but I much prefer the milk glass.  So here she is with her friends.  Citrus is my favorite Pyrex pattern.   Come visit me at www.gfpastorswife.blogspot.com for more vintage goodness.

More Pyrex on ebay!

I keep adding and adding more stuff! Just wanted to fill you in on what else I added.

I added this 3 piece set of the Blue snowflake. 2 Cinderella mixing bowls, and a casserole (no lid)

You can see it here

Also for grabs is this awesome funky tea set! Very retro, not pyrex but just as nice!

You can see it here

Will be adding a red hostess bowl (no lid) and a lot of Butterprint.

Stay tuned! =)

Golden grapes, tablecloth, blue primary for sale

Up for grabs on eBay is this Golden Grapes 1.5 Pint bowl, it goes with the chip and dip but I only have the smaller one.

It has scratches on it, but it is still useful and should go to a good home! The price is low because of the scratches.

You can bid on it here

I also have listed on eBay is this 1.5 Pint Blue primary mixing bowl.
It has a few scratches but very very tiny....barely noticeable. Other than that it is in very good condtion!
You can bid on it here

and I also have a lovely vintage pink fruit tablecloth possibly from the 60's.
It does have a few tiny holes in it but nothing that is noticeable with the naked eye unless you are looking for it, and will not affect the use of it or the look! It is really retro!
you can bid on it here

and here is everything else I am selling

3 Pyrex and a Funeral

I had a busy weekend, celebrating the life of my grandfather. Among other things, he was a war vet, military chef, local butcher, and kitchen enthusiast. Very passionate about food :) like me. I included an old wedding pic for fun.

The day after the funeral I needed a pick me up. I stopped to two places. My luck, they match! Here's what I found... Enjoy!

Seeing Snowflakes

Hi PC3, SusieQT from Practice in Time here!

I knew it would happen! As soon as I caved and bought a snowflake piece on eBay, look what I found in a thrift store:

A 1.5 qt casserole in white with turquoise snowflakes. For $5.00!

Admittedly, it was a charcoal Snowflake I bought on the 'bay, but I'm not going to complain- I love  snowflakes! And I love this size casserole- it is perfect to heat up a rotisserie chicken or side dish.

This is actually my first oval Pyrex casserole- I have a Fire King one in this shape that I use a lot and am happy to have found another.

Pyrex Everywhere!!!!

Sometimes you have to get creative with where you put your pyrex. One of my girlfriends gave me a telephone table a while ago. It now holds my snowflakes and my one completed fridgie set.

My husband told me that the collecting of Pyrex was okay as long as it stayed in the china cabinet and the kitchen. It has migrated to the other end of the dining room.

And he hasn't said a thing. I think he is letting me be with all my pretty treasures.

Check out all the stuff he hates at treasures my husband hates. I hope to fill the house with more treasures he hates.

Snow Day!

Hello, all!

It's super snowy here in the midwest, and after my morning of working from home I decided to rearrange my Pyrex display!

It totally makes my living room (yes, living room...I have no room in my tiny kitchen/dining room) more cheery!

Check out my blog for more pictures!

I Dream of Pyrex

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

I know you all will understand this- and probably no one else will!

I dream about Pyrex. I had a dream where I was looking for the charcoal Snowflake space saver and I went to this underground flea market (I know, weird) and saw it, but couldn't buy it.

Anyway, ever since then I have been obsessed with finding that Snowflake piece. I went to all the local thrifts, and didn't find it. You can probably guess where this is going...

I ended up buying it on eBay. I just couldn't stop thinking about it, and had to have it. The great thing about eBay is you know it will be available. The bad thing about that is that you really can't get a good idea of the condition. Sometimes it's hard to tell from a photo if a piece has been run through the dishwasher (and I have seen plenty of those on eBay- it makes me laugh at the seller's descriptions- 'marbled'? 'rustic'? LOL- as I'm crying inside for the poor Pyrex.) That, plus the risk of shipping something breakable makes it a bit too much of a chance for me sometimes. But like I said, I was obsessed!

So I bit the bullet and actually won an auction for this one. It's the smaller (shallow-er) of the space savers. Up until now, I didn't know they came in two sizes. I have to say I'm liking the shallow ones, because I can stack more of them in limited space ;). I paid $11.50 for it, which isn't too bad I guess, but certainly more than I would have paid in a thrift store. It was in absolutely mint condition, and arrived safely. Win!

While I was browsing through eBay, I also decided I wanted to buy the Butterprint butter dish. I have been looking for this in the wild for years and never seen it. I hate giving up on the hunt, but I have a feeling I'll never find it. (Of course, watch me find it in the next couple of weeks.) I put in a bid and then got caught up in my excitement of winning the snowflake and completely forgot that I had bid on the butter dish.

Well, surprise! I won that too. Also in mint condition, thank goodness.

So my dream came true in a roundabout sort of way...

It makes me really happy to look at my new pieces and I am sleeping better at night. :)

Just a Little Find

I went thrifting with my Mom and got this adorable Pyrex butter jar WITH the lid!  Come see what else I found at www.gfpastorswife.blogspot.com

Stacey

I went thrifting yesterday (my favorite day because it's 25% at my favorite thrift store). I have been dabbling in Ebay selling lately and have been buying men's clothing to resell. I put a few shirts in my basket and kept shopping. I found some stuff for the kids and decided it was time to check out. Imagine my annoyance when I realized those 3 shirts (name brands) were NOT in my basket. I couldn't believe someone would swipe something right out of there. They must have swiped it and paid b/c I couldn't find them anywhere after scouring everyone's baskets. I was so annoyed. I then went to the other thrift store this company owns (Unique) and told myself "I KNOW I'm going to fidn something good after all that". And I DID!!  I raced to the kitchen section and didn't see a thing but then..... there they were....

They are in wonderful condition!!  No scratches, no painting chipping. nothing..and all for me!
Best part (after the discount) they were only $15 for the whole set!!

I then scoured the shop some more and came back to the kitchen section. I didn't take a picture of it but I also found the small bowl from the Scroll Promotional Chip and Dip set. It, too, is in wonderful condition.

So Karma has been restored.  Happy Friday everyone!

A Little Friendship Goes a Long Way

I bet by the look of that title you thought this would be some sappy, squishy post about peace and love and wah wah wah.  Nope, sorry!  While those things are great (but come one, I'm not a beauty queen) :) Pyrex is what I was alluding to.  I'm excited (probably a bit overly, but who cares) to share with everyone my very first Friendship find!  Check it out:
For a little bit there I was getting pretty jealous of those who found this pattern because I had never seen it in the thrifts and it seemed like everyone else saw it all the time.  Then this week I've seen it twice with the first being a painfully over priced beat up set in a Denver thrift (in the case even) and then this!  Shut up!  I can hardly contain myself.  This is my very favorite non-turquoise/black pattern because it is so fun and whimsical.
Doesn't it look stunning with Turquoise?  This is from Froog and Doog, she has an amazing collection!
It would probably look really cool with my collection...
That is the inner hoarder talking again.  Back damn you, back!!!  Geez...
Anyway, it's going to the booth as soon as the roads melt enough for me to get it there.

Pink Pyrex in Action

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time.

I just wanted to pop in real quick and prove that yes, we Pyrex fanatics do use our collections!

My husband had to have a tooth pulled the other day and is still not able to eat chewy/hard foods, so what to make for dinner? How about some creamy mac and cheese baked in my pink Pyrex lasagna pan?

Usually I use an enamelware pan for mac and cheese but it was already being used. I really hate to use a plain steel cake pan for it too, because of the metallic aftertaste. So, the best alternative was to put some of my vintage Pyrex to use!

This pan is the perfect size for a nice large batch (he is eating it for lunch too the next couple of days ;).

Also, if you look closely, you can see my Pyrex oil and vinegar cruets. I use those almost everyday. They sit perfectly on a spare 502 fridgie lid; like a tray.

I don't know about you guys, but I always breathe a sigh of relief when my precious Pyrex is back in the cupboard safe and sound after a jaunt out and about in my kitchen!

I dream of Pyrex ad

I recently bought this I dream of Pyrex ad, of a women dreaming of Pyrex. And I wanted to say that they have another one up on ebay for $1.50 plus $3.50 shipping!!! I know a lot of you wanted it so I wanted to give you the link if anyone is interested.

SOLD!  Who bought it?!!!!! =)

things are picking up.

Things have finally been picking up at my local thrift stores... maybe it's some early spring cleaning?

My first purchases were two Snowflake Garland mixing bowls - #401 and #402 and a Pink Gooseberry casserole - #472.

Snowflake Garland / Gooseberry Pyrex

Next was a turquoise mixing bowl #403... this is actually my first solid colored mixing bowl, so that was pretty exciting.

Turquoise Pyrex Mixing Bowl

My last find was my favorite - a Terra casserole #472, with lid!  Terra is one of my favorite patterns and a lidded casserole has been on the top of my want list for a while.  It was at the sketchiest consignment store ever.  They had just opened up in an old landscaping center and half the store was an old greenhouse.  The building had no heat and a skylight hole in the ceiling was covered with a thin sheet of plastic.  Oh and the cash register didn't work.  So glad my husband came along with me to that shop!

New Year, New Pyrex Displays

Hi Pyrex friends! Brittany here. I just wanted to drop in and share some eye candy!

After purchasing a few too many new beauties--just kidding, no amount of Pyrex is too much Pyrex--I knew I needed to remix my Pyrex displays.

First, the culprits that made the rearranging necessary:

a sunny yellow 1.5 quart #402 for $2.99....

and a 1 1/2 quart lemon carafe for $1.99.

And now for your viewing pleasure, my new displays:

They're all perched above our island in our kind of odd space created by our vaulted ceilings.

The shelf next to our dishwasher used to host more of my Pyrex, but since I changed things up just the top two tiers do.

Lastly, I grouped my green & brown pieces atop our cabinets. Most of these items were thrifted for no more than $4.99! I kind of dig this color combination, even though the bright pieces are still my favorite!

Hope the Pyrex gods are kind to you all this week!
