I scored these adorable green Pyrex pixies this morning for $1.99 each at a thrift store.
I thought they'd be easy to clean with Barkeeper's Friend, but I can't seem to get this icky brown grease off. Does anyone else have any other tips/tricks/ideas?
Please help me save these adorable little guys!
Did you try soaking it?
ReplyDeleteIf all else fails take it outsideand spray some easy-off on it.
Hi Madee-
ReplyDeleteYour little green guys are cute! I hope you can save them. I have a large pink baking dishing that has this exact same thing going on. I tried BKF...and the marks wouldn't budge! I'm going to try Easy Off now like Ana has suggested. Good Luck!
I am in the same boat, with the same dish (large & pink!).
DeleteTried everything I knew.
Gonna read some more of the tips, she what's up. If you clean it, post an update!
You can use Easy Off oven cleaner. I was able to clean off baked on grease on my pink pyrex square baker.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! I just went and picked up some Easy Off - thanks for the suggestion!
ReplyDeleteif you haven't tried magic eraser I would try that too or the easy-off.
ReplyDeleteI also had this problem and it took several soaks in hot soapy water, lots of scrubbing with Bon Ami and scratching the really bad stuff with my nails. I had to do it for several hours, but it ALL came off and was much worse.
ReplyDeleteI had a pink pie plate with this issue and was forced to scrape it off with a screwdriver and soak (repeatedly). Surprisingly it came out great! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI agree with oven cleaner. I had a green lasagna pan worse off then your pixies and it came out bright and beautiful. (I even blogged about it.)
ReplyDeleteThanks, TH! I'll have to check your blog :)
DeleteI just disovered Barkeepers Friend, but if that didn't work I can't think of anything else. Good luck with it and let us know what does work.
ReplyDeleteEasy off! Like everyone else, I had a pink daisy baker in horrible shape, covered in brown gunk, and it totally removed it without harming the finish! (Don't use magic eraser on anything with color--it WILL hurt the finish!)
ReplyDeleteMagic erasers scare the crap out of me! I barely used one on a teal snowflake space saver and needless to say...it ended sadly. :(
DeleteOhhhhh thanks for the tip! I'll have to keep my Magic E for toilets only! Phephw! I just got a piece I was going to try it on....
