Butterfly Gold and David Bowie

I completed my Butterfly Gold cinderella bowl set!

I had the 441 since late April and my Mom bought me the 443 at an antique mall last month. I bought the 442 and the 444  on shopgoodwill.com. ( for $5.99 ) They were really great, it only took 6 days for the bowls to get here, they were packaged very well. This was my first time buying Pyrex off the internet so I was nervous. I took some pictures of the packaging.

I opened up to box and this was what I saw, a million packing peanuts.

Inside the million packing peanuts was this:
As you can see, tons of bubble wrap. I cut it open to show you all the layers.

As you can see there were packing peanuts in between the bowls.

Young Early American. I always almost call it Young American. ~she was a young Americaaan~ These were gifts. :
I love that I have Pyrex that has a cat on it! I'd love to get the little fridgies of this, more cats.

I found some BG stuff at goodwill last week

I was a bit silly and didn't realize the little "cup thing" was the sugar bowl right away. I'd like to find the lid for it and for the margarine tub someday.

I also found this wee little Forest Fancies and a little red fridgie for .99 cents each.

I need another 501 and the yellow 503 to complete my primary set! I'm greatly looking forward to the day when I have a complete set of fridgies to go with my complete primary bowl set.

I also received  an opal loaf pan and an opal pie plate from the same nice lady who got me the Early American pieces.

Here is most of my BG in my hutch, safe from my cats.

My cats are devious and even try to get inside my hutch. D:

I have a lot of Pyrex outside of my Hutch, some I use some is just laying there on the kitchen table waiting to be broken by a naughty little beast. I've only been collecting since April 27th 2012 but I seem to have out grown my hutch! I told myself I didn't need a huge one, I under estimated  myself by a lot. lol

I hope you all had a fun and Pyrex filled 4th of July.

  1. That's just about when I started collecting! Isn't it so addicting? You're doing better at sticking to certain patterns than I am. I have lots of pieces, but they are very random!
    Your hutch looks great!

    1. I've gotten lucky and found a lot of Spring Blossom and Butterfly Gold around where I live. Almost all of the Spring Blossom came from one purchase from a nice collector having a garage sale. I spent about $60 which was really all I had to spare at the time but she had soooo much Pyrex. She wasn't from town though so I didn't get a chance to buy more later.

      Thank you!

  2. So great! Wonderful collection!! I've been trying to stick to only turquoise pieces... It's so hard!! My parents just picked up the butterfly gold sugar, creamer, gravy boat/dish for me. What to do?? Keep collecting, or maybe sell/swap. Anyway, looks great & I agree, I loooooovveee that the Early American has cats!!!!!!!

    1. I couldn't imagine just collecting one color! That is some dedication. The BG stuff would probably be great for Thanksgiving.

I freaked out when I realized that there was Pyrex with cats. My favorite color is purple and there really isn't any purple Pyrex ( for some reason? Maybe it was a hard color to make ) so at least there are cats.

    1. Thank you!

I know, I'm super excited about it as well. That was actually a gift I got a couple weeks ago. Our friend's Mother said she had a present for me and I flipped when I saw it. I haven't gotten to use it yet because it's really hot where I live, so hot people don't use their ovens in the summer.

    2. What a great present! It's disgustingly hot here, too. I try to avoid using my oven, but I love baking! :)

  4. What do you put inside your bowls to elevate them for display?

    1. The really small cans of green beans, the walmart brand, not the name brand. I would only suggest this if you have doors or something on whatever you're keeping your Pyrex on/in. It's mostly stable but because they are so elevated it could topple. Like, if you had a cat and they knocked it or something. My primary bowls on the right are stacked with tuna cans. I tried both ways and I personally prefer the green bean cans.

    1. Maybe! Money is a little tight right now so we'll see. We should talk, I might have something you're interested in etc.

  7. Love the way you have your collection displayed. You have the best luck at the thrift stores-I hardly ever see Pyrex here, and when I do it's in bad shape!

    1. Thank you!

The nice lady who gifts me a lot of Pyrex has waaaay better luck than I do. But she's been thrifting for a long, long time.

  8. I don't know if I love Pyrex better than David Bowie. I'll just take them together.
    Great pieces.
    Cheers,
