Unexpected find!

Hello, I'm Elyse! I'm new here, and really loving this collective!

My family and I recently took a trip to Galveston, and while we were there, we decided to take the kids on a tour of a submarine and ship (the USS Cavalla).  I was really just happy that the submarine was well air conditioned and that the kids were having a blast, and then I walked into the galley and spotted this:

That opaque glass caught my eye immediately, and I was fully expecting to find that it was Anchor Hocking, but on further inspection I saw this!

When we got home I found that these were commonly used in WWII on ships... I had no idea! I really liked seeing such a complete set of mugs, and was glad they left them for display for pyrex nerds like me. :)

Come check out my pyrex related blog post at

  1. They are really cute! There are some in our local antique store that I've been eyeing! I better go see if they're still there.
    Thanks for sharing!

  2. I love the holder! I got a large set of these last year at a huge yardsale. A lady sold the box for $5.
