My recent trip to Adamstown PA

My husband and I just went on an awesome day trip to Adamstown PA. Don't know if you know of Adamstown but it is filled with 7 miles of antiques centers, some HUGE, some small and in between. I saw tons and tons of Pyrex and only bought two pieces the rest that I bought was vintage jewelry ! But the two pieces that I bought are super rare and are in pristine condition. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much and can't wait to go back. I have not taken any pictures of my two Pyrex finds yet but I do have pictures of what I saw and passed up .

    1. Haha!! Yes I gasp everytime I see Pyrex but I must say I'm not addicted like I was with Pyrex ... I know I know how could I ?! Lol but I have no more room to put anything !!!! And I don't want my house to be cluttered so I stopped collecting unless I see something rare. And yes isn't the Bakelite jewelry amazing?? I LOVE IT

    2. It was lovely there! I only found a few things as well - I thought most of the prices were pretty outrageous. Sooo fun to stare at everything though!

    2. I also saw a ton of it at the Mad Hatter antique mall -- the gal at the register told me to go up to Pine Hill for more!

    4. I think she was blonde, yes... I bought a few plates at Mad Hatter and said I was on the hunt for more Pyrex, so she gave me the tip. I did notice the jewelry too... sooo pretty.

  8. I thought I was dreaming when I saw that picture of the pyrex. Why don't I live in a place that I have access to this kind of store?? I love where I live, but I feel it is a wasteland for pyrex collecting!

    1. Well this is not very close to me, it is almost 3 hours away but still within driving distance and it makes a nice day trip

  9. The Charcoal Drive-In is very near me. Actually, the restaurant is closed and its just a bus terminal now. But it makes me smile every time I pass the sign. It used to be spectacular all lit up.

    1. Very cool you are not that far from Adamstown then lucky you ! I saw this sign on the way home. It intrigued me and thought it was so nice to see it still standing

  10. I should be drooling over the Pyrex, which I did but what I am really drooling over is the Cherry necklace! Was it vintage? Can you tell me anything about it?

    1. I love that cherry necklace, it is vintage! It's from the 30's I believe. The cherries are Bakelite and this piece was priced at $350!!!! They usually go for a lot of money and if you find one for a $100 and below grab it!!

  11. My grandmother lived in Adamstown, and actually worked at the hat factory that owned the Mad Hatter
Antiques building. My parents still live about 10 minutes from there...you should check out Shupp's Grove as well if you didn't before. There is a man there that has a pyrex stand and the prices are a little better than some of the other spots in Adamstown. And...fun fact...he's a funeral director in his "day job"!

    1. Ooh very cool!!! That is awesome that your grandma worked in the hat factory, I haven't been to Shupps grove I believe everytime I go they are closed. Haha a funeral director as a day job ??! Creepy! But I'm sure he's a nice guy lol

    2. Shupps Grove is only open on Sundays, as is Renningers (another fun place to visit....go to Kim's Vintage Kitchenware....oh, my, it is heavenly.)
And yes, the funeral director actually was very nice!

  15. We are going to Adamstown this weekend for antique shops. Im looking for a retro table and chair set from the 60 or 70's. We don't live far from there and I pass them all the time to go to my dentist.

  17. My Pyrex is BEFORE there were patterns, most of it was my late Mum's and I've added to it from our local thrift store. I have casseroles, butter dishes and pie plates
