Strange Little White Round Dish

I found this lovely little bowl today but am totally mystified by it.  Check it out!
It is a 1.5 quart round baking dish that I imagine had a bubble type lid, but that is all I know about it.  This is what is making it even more mysterious.  See that reversed stamp?!  What the heck is that about?!
This picture has a weird filter on it to show the detail a little better.
Does anyone have any info on this?  The back of my brain keeps telling me that someone wrote about this piece some months ago, but my brain isn't totally reliable.  So if I'm being redundant please excuse me, it is a fact of my life!  : )

  2. Sorry I'm no help but I also remember seeming someone post something about it awhile back too! I have the same bowl but not the backwards stamp.

  3. Hi,
I also remembered the mention of the backwards stamp and found some info. I believe your white casserole is from 1956 and had a pretty special cradle with it.
Someone mentioned the "backwards" stamp here:

and there was a referral to the picture here:

I think these "backwards" were originally for clear Pyrex, so you could read them through.
    What do you think?

    1. Did you thrift the cradle? I might even be desperate enough to get one off eBay now. It's so neat!
