Happiness & Sadness for my Yellow Butterprint

Hi Everyone!

I was SO excited when I received my Yellow Butterprint mixing bowls that I had purchased. They are so pretty and SO perfect for Autumn! However, as soon as my husband got home he started commenting about how UGLY they are! The nerve!

Well, I thought this would wear off and he would just accept that I loved the bowls like always does. Not even close. He is still commenting about those terrible bowls!

So I decided to bite the bullet, and just sell them :/ They go perfect with black for Halloween, or as they ar for Thanksgiving. $100 + shipping and they are yours (what I paid for them). email me at tiffanyvsaint at gmail.com if interested!

Help ID this 043!

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time, and I need your help!

I picked up this gorgeous yellow 043 casserole yesterday. I initially thought it was a Daisy with the wrong lid:

But after I got home, and did some research, it turns out that the Daisy casserole in this size (1.5 qt) would have been orange. I also thought it might be the Seville promo, but that appears to have only come in the 045 size. This is definitely a beautiful, buttery yellow. Darker than the primary yellow, very similar to the New Dots yellow.

So I am stumped! Anyone know the name of this pattern, and did it have a different lid?

Snow Day!

Hello, all!

It's super snowy here in the midwest, and after my morning of working from home I decided to rearrange my Pyrex display!

It totally makes my living room (yes, living room...I have no room in my tiny kitchen/dining room) more cheery!

Check out my blog for more pictures!

Hyperventilating in the Thrift Store

Hi all, SusieQT here from Practice in Time. Normally I am not the type to get outwardly excited about anything, especially shopping. Calm, cool, and collected, that's me. But today I had one of those experiences in the thrift store that got me all sweaty, weak and shaky.

What could have done that to me?

Oh yeah.....a yellow New Dot on the thrift store shelf.

Good thing I was already down on my knees digging through the lowest shelf, because I got so shaky I might have fallen over. It seemed like slow motion as I reached over and grabbed it. And of course from that moment on I never let it go. I think I had a hand cramp from holding on to it.

As I carried it up to the register and I passed a lady carrying the Old Towne butter dish I had debated buying and put down (too expensive at $9.50). I imagined her jealous looks as I paid my $4 for my new prize. (Don't ask me about the crazy thrift store pricing; I'm not arguing one bit!)

So it made it home safe and sound, just needed a little BKF and magic eraser to clean up the scratches. It came out beautifully and now I just have to find a place of honor for it!

New Dots Disaster

An unfortunate event happened to my New Dots Pyrex this past weekend. Sandy came through and this is the aftermath left in my kitchen.

Check out my blog at paperwaterdrops.blogspot.com and find out how this happened.

dreams come true

well, it officially happened. my dreams have come true. i wrote about the pyrex dream i had in a post a few months ago, and today it actually came true! i hadn't been in my local thrift store for about four weeks because i had been so upset that there was never any pyrex to be had. well, that all changed today. i found the motherload of pyrex. :)

in fact, there was so much pyrex to be had it will take my three posts to document it all (my haul, what i left behind, my current collection) so i look forward to sharing it all with you!

in this post i wanted to focus on the haul! :) i am SO excited to have found so many pieces. and pieces from collections i had never had the privilege of seeing in person!

can you imagine? this beautiful blue snowflake was nestled inside of a cabinet next to the cash register. it's price tag was $12 but when was i ever going to see blue snowflake again?? so lovely!

and, pink gooseberry? for real? there were actually two of these bowls but they each cost $15 so i could only swing the cost of one of them. some other lucky pyrex collector will be very happy to find the other one. :) i'm so excited to see this pattern. i've dreamed about this one!

i love autumn harvest so i was especially happy to find this small bowl for only $4 and it is in pretty good condition. the little yellow dish is unusual. anyone know anything about it? the colour was in mint condition and just the inside of the bowl needs to be cleaned up a bit. this one was $5 and totally worth it. below these pieces is a butterfly gold dish that i didn't get a stand-alone picture of. it's in mint condition as well but was only $2!! i was so excited because i specifically collect butterfly gold.

another pattern i collect is spring blossom (aka crazy daisy). love these mugs. found them in a cart in one of the aisles for only $0.50 each. and the matching saucers were only $0.10. why can't everything be that cheap?!

and a woodland gravy boat! i have a few woodland pieces so for $2 this little guy was definitely coming home with me.

i'll write more about the pieces i left behind (there were a lot of them!) and what my collection looks like today. i can't even contain my excitement right now!

Yellow Large Bowl find at Goodwill

Hey everyone!  I joined a couple of weeks ago, but haven't had time to write yet.  I haven't been finding much lately, and this weekend I finally found a copule of pieces at our local Goodwill, including this large yellow bowl in almost perfect condition. I already have the same bowl (which i use as my  popcorn bowl), but the paint is a little bit scratched and is matte instead of glossy like this, so I was excited to find this.  That was until I flipped it over and looked at the price- $15!  It was in such good condition I was actually tempted to buy it, but it was just a little too much.  I brought it up to the register with a smaller blue blow (that was marked $10) and asked to talk to the manager.  I told her I'd bought similar pieces there for much less and she ended up reducing the yellow one to $6 and the blue one to $4- she said they had a new pricer who was pricing everything way to high.  I felt a little wierd to ask but she agreed right away and had no problem giving me a new price, so I guess its always worth it to ask. :)

New to the Group and Pyrex Collecting

Hi everyone.  I am new to the group and to Pyrex collecting.  I must say I am now addicted and have even had dreams about finding Pyrex. lol.  It all started a little more than a week ago (the 17th) with these two great bowls.

Butterfly Gold 4 quart and 2-1/2 quart bowls.

I had gone to the Goodwill store looking for crafty things and old quilts with no luck.  I was about ready to leave empty handed when I spied these sitting on a bottom shelf.  I'm pretty sure I let out a little squeal.  I was so happy to see these two bowls, and without a scractch or chip on either of them. Isn't it funny how seeing something like this can give you warm fuzzies? My great-grandmother and grandmothers had beautifully colored Pyrex mixing bowls and casserole dishes when I was growing up. I remember paying more attention to what the food was in than what the food was. lol.

I thought they were a steal at $3.00 each.

Now when I go to the Goodwill store I'll be looking for old quilts, craft items, books, and Pyrex.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Angie

A Second Chance at Life

My boyfriend very sweetly brought me home a rather shabby looking #472 Daisy Bake-Serve-Store Casserole. He found it for only $0.79, but I had very little faith in being able to restore it. Lo and behold, I may have performed a small miracle:

Before: Is this thing brown?!

Half way there: It's yellow!!

Ta-Da! It's beautiful!

How'd I do it? Check it out at Hourglass Vintage.

Pyrex in Saint Louis

Anyone else out there in Pyrex land from St. Louis? Took a trip last weekend (on date night, of course) to The Future Antiques and was speechless. They have so many beautiful Pyrex pieces, as their website photos show. I found a compass divided dish and finally got a large yellow refrigerator dish with lid. This will complete my primary refrigerator set, as soon as I see my Aunt to grab the two small red ones she has for me!

I haven't had one Goodwill find in my area (west of STL), but mostly thrift stores and antique stores. Anyone else in my area have that experience?

Hello There! An Intro by Thetoddlerwhisperer

Well Hellllllloooooooo there Pyrex Collective III. I'm your newest member! Been following for a while, then every time I would pick up a piece of gorgeous Pyrex, thought, "Hey, I'd love to share this with this fabulous collective."  This post is pic heavy, but don't we all love drooling over Pyrex?

This is me. I'm a momma of two littles...they aren't toddlers anymore, they are 4 &5. My blog is called thetoddlerwhisperer and if you visit, you can choose the label PYREX over on the right for all my posts with pretty pyrex pics.

This is the first piece I picked up when I decided to start collecting. I grew up using Crazy Daisy in my mom's kitchen. So Pyrex has always held a special place in my heart and memories. We walked into GW, and I saw this beauty on the shelf (complete with the grimy holder) for maybe $4.99.

The next week I went to a different GW and just as I told Mr Toddlerwhisperer that, "no, there's nothing here." I saw these beauties!! I spent $14.99 for the set, which to my thrifty mindset was a little much, but hey, they're so pretty!

I'm also guilty of bidding on shopgoodwill.com when I have no self restraint. (actually I didn't have a working vehicle for 4 months and had to vicariously thrift.) ya, we'll stick with that excuse.

I love to use my pieces too...(this was our super bowl snack)

Mr Toddlerwhisperer is an awesome cook...and he loves my new obsession  collection as well

I have blue tips on my hair. I am slightly regretting because I have an interview next week for a teaching position. (returning to teaching after 5 years of being a SAHM)

And now a question....anyone know what this piece goes to? Is it even Pyrex? From handle to handle it is 19". The oval is 13" x 9" My mom picked it up for me at an estate sale last week.

I'd like to hear what you all think. :)

Happy Hunting Pyrex Collectors!!

Pretty Primary Pyrex

Oh how I love primary colored Pyrex! I picked up this lovely little bowl at the Goodwill for 3.99. It adds a nice sunny touch to the kitchen and looks lovely with those apples.
I know this is a Pyrex site, but I know we all come across those "other" brands that we like too. The large Corning Ware Spice of Life cutting board was found at an estate sale for $5.
All other pieces in the photo were either thrifted or free.

My First post here... Welcome Primary Mixing Bowls

Hello, I'm Katie.  I've been a Pyrex collector for many many years. Thanks to my mother. She gave me my first piece. I debated on what to post for my first post here at PCIII. And came to the conclusion that a simple, timeless, and classic would  be perfect. And I got them yesterday at Salvation Army.

401, 402, 403 and 404.  I don't even know if I should tell you how much they cost me.

(Shhhh......$15.20 total)

If you want to see my other finds you can read about them here.
