Amazing Haul on Last Day of 2013

Husband and little miss went out with me late in the afternoon on December 31. We had to drop off some stuff at the thrift store so we decided to thrift, too.

I got so excited by some of these finds I sat down on the floor and just about hyperventilated.

Little miss, aka my thrifting buddy, found the opal 402 as I was filling out the charitable donation paperwork for the goods we were dropping off. At the next place we all found the Snowflake 045 (which was so filthy I couldn't believe it, my husband is a darling and cleaned it to look like new), the Federal Starburst, the Hazel Atlas Ivy, and be still my heart, the Unmarked Turquoise Diamonds. My husband plucked it off the shelf and he says my breathing just stopped. That was when I had to sit down. Further on he found the Terra mug and the three Hazel Atlas mugs, which are a match for some bowls I inherited from my grandmother.

At the next location I found the Horizon Blue 441 and 442. As I was inspecting them husband said, "Hey, I see an opal pan." I dismissed it but he pulled it off the bottom shelf and then got really excited as he loves Friendship. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would own a lasagna pan, much less a Friendship lasagna pan; in fact, this is the first piece of Friendship I have ever had the pleasure of seeing in person prior to buying. I was already sitting on the floor when he showed it to me so I was well prepared to take it all in. The Butterfly Gold dishes were a nice treat; I have been working on building a mixed collection of BG and Spring Blossom/Crazy Daisy to use as our everyday dishes. This find gets me started on the salad plates which I will add to my dinner plates and bowls.

It was a banner day, one I will not soon forget. Here's to even more fun finds in 2014!

Flea Market Scores

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

I haven't been blogging much because of a camera issue, but I've still been shopping for Pyrex. Unfortunately, the thrift stores and yard sales aren't yielding much, so I stopped at my local flea market today.

And look what I found! These 401 bowls are the best patterned Pyrex I've found in a while. I saw more Pyrex there than I have at any thrift store or yard sale, which is great because the prices are low and there doesn't seem to be the competition for Pyrex like I see in the thrifts. (That's another whole issue which has been bugging me lately, but I don't want to get into that.)

The top is Horizon Blue and is my first piece of that pattern. I'm still kicking myself for passing up a complete set of casseroles in this pattern two years ago- it's so pretty. The bottom one is New Dots (of course you knew that) and is so minty! I am now halfway to finishing that set- you may remember my post about finding the yellow New Dots. And the best part of the flea market is I got both of them for $5! Which is a good thing, because finishing these sets is probably going to cost me- especially the New Dots 404.

Snow Day!

Hello, all!

It's super snowy here in the midwest, and after my morning of working from home I decided to rearrange my Pyrex display!

It totally makes my living room (yes, living room...I have no room in my tiny kitchen/dining room) more cheery!

Pyrex Week!

First I found all these at an annual flea market, fridgies, delphite and town and country!

Then 2 horizon blue cinderella bowls on Kijiji and my offer for the butterprint bowls was accepted on eBay. Good week! Find out about all the sets I completed on my blog.

2013 Finds!

Hello, fellow Pyrex lovers!

I've been busy attempting to plan my wedding and haven't been thrifting for Pyrex much. (So sad, right?!)

I still have managed to acquire some new goods, though!

Each of the fridgies & the small bowl were fifty cents each - I can't say no to a fridgie for fifty cents! Although now I do have 7 of them. (I HAVE A PROBLEM.) Does anyone by chance know what this small white bowl with the black/gold rim is? It's definitely marked Pyrex on the bottom, and it's the same size as the Terra bowls.

This little gal was a trade from the lovely Brittany! I am in love with this blue!

These were a Christmas gift from my momma - first Sandalwood pieces!

Horizon Blue

_MG_4612.jpg
On Ash Wednesday I thrifted a couple Horizon Blue bowls. I decided to stop in again at the same thrift store last Wednesday. Guess what I found? I was able to complete this whole set with the other two blue bowls. I just love the this color it's so pretty in person. I had seen it online liked it, but seeing it in person was so much better. It's a gorgeous blue.

To make it even better there was a small chip on the edge of the larger bowl. I asked if I could be given and discount and the guy took half off. I ended up piecing this whole set together for $13. Now that's exciting!

Thrifty Finds

_MG_4530.jpg
My Pyrex collection just keeps growing. There's a thrift store just minutes from our church. Last Wednesday evening I decided to stop in before church. I saw these pieces, but talked myself out of purchasing them because I thought they were too expensive, but I loved the design and the color so much that I couldn't stop thinking about them. I took a picture of the bowls and left the store. I guess my children liked them too because they told me I should go back and get them. The next day we decided to do just that. Come to find out there was another price sticker underneath the sticker that I had seen and the big bowl ended up being cheaper than I originally thought. Score!

The fun didn't stop there because my children wanted to go to another thrift store and then another. We ended up stopping at 4 thrift stores before we made it home. My children are becoming quite the thrifters. They usually spot Pyrex pieces before I do. They love going to the thrift store. Some children ask to go to the park or the toy store, but mine ask to go to the thrift store. Yikes! What have I done?
