First Pyrex, First Post!

I'm so excited - this was my very first piece of Pyrex!  As a new collector, this is a very exciting event.  :)

I got this for the princely sum of $1.68 at a thrift store, and it is in near perfect condition.  Just a couple small scratches.  It did have a large stain inside - something silvery - but my Bar Keeper's Friend cleaned it off beautifully.  The red base is AMAZINGLY bright and shiny.

I know it is Friendship, and I know this dish came with both a clear lid option and an opaque one.  Does anyone know the age?

The only fly in the ointment?  I'm trying to only collect pink, green and black...not red!  Anyone want to trade?  :-D

So, that is my first find...I'd love to hear about your first pieces of Pyrex!

Thanks for letting me into the Collective!  I'm learning so much and enjoying myself immensely.

  1. Very cool! Especially for the first piece and that price! I'd love to trade ( i have a pink daisy 1957 1 1/2 quart oval w/ lid and I don't do the pink! However, the shipping would be like $10. You don't live in Western WA do you? If not...I'd be willing to swap but I know the shipping is high.

    1. If this trade doesn't work out I'd be interested in doing one for the 1.5 Daisy. I'm in W. Washington. Not sure what you're looking for but we could figure that out.

  3. Where are you from? And what other pieces are you interested in? I'd possibly do a trade! :)
Congrats on this great find! It's great for your first Pyrex piece!

  4. Thanks for the warm welcome! Yes, I'm in Hayden, Idaho. I'm familiar with the Lake City Community Church, although my husband and I attend Real Life Ministries in Post Falls.

The only Pink Daisy I am looking for is the smallest rectangle casserole, but thank you! I'm basically looking for almost anything in primary pink and primary green/verde. I also love the green Square Flowers, the black on white patterns and the gold/vanilla combination (like the heart casserole). And ALL the scrolls! My holy grail is the pink scroll space saver from 1958. :)

Shipping isn't a big deal for me. Around here, Pyrex is hard to find and generally expensive (like $136 for a yellow gooseberry Cinderella bowl at one of my local antique stores - but I think you pay extra for the scratches!) so I don't mind shipping costs - it's STILL cheaper! :D

Again, thanks for the kind words and warm welcome!
