Hello, Pyrex Collective!

I need your help in identifying the baking dishes in the picture below. What set are they from? I have googled endlessly but not found any results that match these colours. I just can't figure it out! Help! :)

catching up

it's been quite awhile since i've posted on here with my latest pyrex finds! i've been putting them all on instagram so i thought i'd quickly catch up and post some of the recent pix here too. enjoy! :)

a set of old town salt and pepper shakers!

 

spring blossom salt and pepper shakers go well with the verde round casserole set.

 

round casseroles for everyone! loving the colour combos.

a beautiful new butterfly gold piece for my collection.

a clear-bottomed primary yellow bowl. i was really surprised to see it marked as pyrex but i believe it's one of the new types of pyrex and not part of any vintage collection.

a mini-blue fridgie with lid (my first fridgie lid!). the blue primary casserole is in amazing condition and it doesn't have a size listed on the bottom...doesn't that imply that it is quite old? just as the original primary mixing bowls didn't have sizes listed either?

teal pyrex {magic}

today is officially awesome and it is only 11:15 a.m. :)

this morning i visited my local thrift store and spotted this beautiful set of three teal pyrex bowls (they were selling for $18 but...it's teal!). i didn't even hesitate. i picked them up and went straight for the cashier. even though it wasn't a complete set, i was so stoked for their beautiful colour.

 

then, i bring the bowls home and unwrap them and think to myself "hmm, they look familiar." that's when i remembered that i had the largest bowl of the set already! i'd been using it in my christmas centrepiece and had completely forgotten about it!

 

 

it was magic. that's all i can think. i went from being so happy to have found the three teal bowls to suddenly having the complete set!! the entire set cost me $26 which is way more than i would've been willing to pay normally but it was worth it this time. and, since one picture is never enough, here are a few pictures to ogle at. :)

{finds} and left-behinds

well, lately the prices at my local thrift store have been absolutely astronomically high. there's no other way to put it. i can't possibly be expected to pay $8 for a gravy boat or $20 for a 404, can i? well, of course, if we're all honest, we've probably been willing to pay that on occasion for that much-needed much-desired piece to add to our collections! i'm guilty too. :)

before i share the over-priced left-behinds, i'm excited to say that i found a fantastic deal today! for $9 i picked up this set of 3 verde casseroles that are all in fantastic condition. needless to say, as soon as i saw them and their price, i ran to the cash register.

i picked up this yellow over-loved cinderella bowl for $3. i could see there was still some original sheen underneath all those scuff marks so i believed i could still salvage it! and, it worked!! love it.

below, the shenandoah bowls were priced at $20 and $11. no, thanks. the medallion piece was priced at $10. not too bad for a unique piece like that but it isn't something that i wanted to collect so i passed that one up in hopes of finding something better.

and, here we have a few more pieces left for another lucky pyrex collector. the large woodland and old orchard were $9 (both were scratched up). the butterfly gold pieces together were $40! um, no. and the small woodland and yellow bowl were each $3. again, not so bad but the yellow bowl had lost all of its sheen and was completely unsalvagable. oh, well! they weren't there when i went back today so someone must've been happy! :)

pyrex on {instagram}

just wanted to check with the rest of the collective whether any of you are instagramming your pyrex finds? it has become an awesome source of inspiration for me and seeing all the different pyrex pieces people are picking up every day!

few {new} pieces

i just can't find good deals on pyrex anymore and it's totally frustrating. thankfully, i'm making a road trip to the united states this weekend and i'm optimistic that i'll find some good deals!

below is the collection of pieces i picked up this past weekend at value village. the spring blossom pieces were $2.99 and the JAJ england piece was $3 but worth it because i absolutely love that pattern. the large 404 is my very first teal piece! it was $6 but i couldn't pass it up either! lol

then there are the pieces left behind. check out these insane prices at my local thrift store! $8 for a gravy boat and $6 for that tiny cinderella bowl? gah! even though i collect spring blossom, that was too rich for me. *sad :(

and there were these over-loved pieces that were selling for $2 each. sad for their rough condition but happy they lived a good life. :)

the {left behind} series

thought i'd share a few pictures of the pieces i have left behind this week...you know, in case you happen to be thrifting in southeastern manitoba. ;)

but, first, i had to share what i found today! yay! another piece of butterfly gold (for $7). i just said last week that i needed some more pieces! plus, i found my very first salt and pepper set ($0.25/ea) and it happens to be in a spring blossom pattern, which i also collect. score.

 

i would love to have this set of spring blossom bowls but at $30, it's a little rich for me. i've noticed that there are some pyrex pieces in my local thrift store that are being tagged differently...and the ones tagged differently are the ones that are expensive. there must have been a pyrex collector out there who decided to donate their collection and kept those price-y tags on them. hmmm. if they want these pieces to move, they're going to have to lower the prices!

 

an unattractive pyrex england piece that has been sitting on the shelves for months. even though it costs only $2, i don't want it in my house. ;)

these two were super hard to pass up today. one was $3 and the other was $2. and, i already have a piece from this collection but i just didn't have the cash for it today. if they are still there next week, they're making the trip home with me.

another set i'd like but this woodland set was $30.

i bought her pink gooseberry sister last week for $15. so pretty.

am not a fan of old orchard. especially at $5 for this small 401. but, there will be some very happy collector out there who'll snatch it up!

i have one piece of forest fancies but since i'm looking to get rid of it, i thought it'd be best not to pick up another one!

a whole set of forest fancies mixing bowls! again, $30 for the set.

the {collection}...so far

as mentioned previously, my collection recently grew by several more pieces which meant it was time for my pyrex to make a move! i had removed two cupboard doors in my kitchen months ago to allow my pyrex to be on display but those shelves had rapidly filled up (see below) so there was no way i was going to get any more in there!

 

so, it was time to make some furniture switches. i grabbed my bookshelf from my living room and dragged it into my dining room instead. then i got the joy of reorganizing all the pyrex again! don't you love doing that? i spent two hours moving pyrex pieces around the shelves until they were pleasing enough to my eye. ;)

then i was just left with my super lovely butterfly gold pieces (and a couple randoms to fill the top shelf) that i kept on display in my kitchen. i wish i had a few more butterfly gold pieces to fill up those shelves but i'm sure with a little more patience, they'll show up. :)

 

 

oh, and i do actually use my pyrex so i have some mixing bowls and measuring cups not pictured because they were in the sink! :)

 

and, finally, out of interest's sake, below is a picture of my collection as of april 3, 2012. it's grown a little in the last six months. :) can you believe i only had 2 butterfly gold pieces and now have over 15?

dreams come true

well, it officially happened. my dreams have come true. i wrote about the pyrex dream i had in a post a few months ago, and today it actually came true! i hadn't been in my local thrift store for about four weeks because i had been so upset that there was never any pyrex to be had. well, that all changed today. i found the motherload of pyrex. :)

in fact, there was so much pyrex to be had it will take my three posts to document it all (my haul, what i left behind, my current collection) so i look forward to sharing it all with you!

in this post i wanted to focus on the haul! :) i am SO excited to have found so many pieces. and pieces from collections i had never had the privilege of seeing in person!

 

can you imagine? this beautiful blue snowflake was nestled inside of a cabinet next to the cash register. it's price tag was $12 but when was i ever going to see blue snowflake again?? so lovely!

and, pink gooseberry? for real? there were actually two of these bowls but they each cost $15 so i could only swing the cost of one of them. some other lucky pyrex collector will be very happy to find the other one. :) i'm so excited to see this pattern. i've dreamed about this one!

i love autumn harvest so i was especially happy to find this small bowl for only $4 and it is in pretty good condition. the little yellow dish is unusual. anyone know anything about it? the colour was in mint condition and just the inside of the bowl needs to be cleaned up a bit. this one was $5 and totally worth it. below these pieces is a butterfly gold dish that i didn't get a stand-alone picture of. it's in mint condition as well but was only $2!! i was so excited because i specifically collect butterfly gold.

another pattern i collect is spring blossom (aka crazy daisy). love these mugs. found them in a cart in one of the aisles for only $0.50 each. and the matching saucers were only $0.10. why can't everything be that cheap?!

and a woodland gravy boat! i have a few woodland pieces so for $2 this little guy was definitely coming home with me.

 

 

i'll write more about the pieces i left behind (there were a lot of them!) and what my collection looks like today. i can't even contain my excitement right now!

sad state of pyrex

my once flourishing local thrift store has suddenly been very low on pyrex. i have not found a decent piece of pyrex in weeks and weeks. such a sad state i am in. i mean, there have been several pyrex pieces for sale but (as evidenced below) they are either way over-priced or in poor condition. i thought i'd share some of my findings over the past few weeks:


never seen this pattern before. anyone know its name? i can't even find something similar on google images...

 

 

a set of 3 "old orchard" mixing bowls for $20. that's too rich for my taste. plus, it's missing a bowl. plus, it's just an unattractive pattern.

 

a very sad sad old orchard bowl. so sad. hope it had a good life.

 

i love butterfly gold but even i couldn't take this cinderella bowl for $1.50. those scratches were embedded into the bowl and no magic eraser was going to save it.

 

 

a decent looking butterfly gold bowl but for $5.00. again, that's a little much. plus, i'm pretty sure my pyrex contact in winnipeg has this one set aside for me. :)

 

there are some attractive-looking pyrex england pieces. this is not one of them. :)

 

i've been seeing posts lately about "jaj" and i don't know anything about it. is it pyrex? either way, i found two pieces today that were labelled "jaj". this one was $5.00.

 

this "jaj" was $15.00! and it wasn't even in mint condition! i do like the retro pattern, though.

 

this is glas-bake but the pattern is so similar to old town. i really do like this loaf pan but it was yet another thing left on the shelves for someone else to scoop up.
