Doily

I am back.  Where have I been? I took some time off to focus on myself and my family.  I am down a total of 38.6 lbs. I have a sparkling clean house. I am working on the science fair project my kid wanted to do and I have been spending time with THH whenever I can.

Now this does't mean I haven't gone thrifting. I have. Not as much as I normally do, but I have gone out a few times. Slim pickens here.

One day I did manage to find this doily bottom.

Now I Knew I had seen the lid for sale somewhere. I couldn't remember if I saw it online or in person.  I messages my pyrex lady on Facebook thinking i saw it at her house in her sell pile. She did have it. And sold it to me. While I was there I found the Forest Fancies 472 that I needed to complete my set. So I killed 2 birds with one stone!

Not much else around lately. Oh well a little is better than none right?
Check out what else I got and what I have been doing over at

Until Next time…….

finally got around to these...

I picked up all of these, well, probably a few months ago at this point. They've been sitting in my cabinet waiting for a little love, which I finally got around to this weekend. They were all in good shape, just needed a little cleaning.

I grabbed the Terra plate and bowls at Savers. I almost missed them since they weren't in the usual Pyrex area.

I'm not usually a fan of the speckled backgrounds, but I broke my rules to pick up this Forest Fancies #474 Casserole. What can I say? The mushrooms are pretty adorable.

Another Butterfly Gold for the collection. It's not really my favorite pattern, but I come across a lot of it in very good condition and can't seem to pass it up.

And then there's my favorite find. An unmarked Eyes chip and dip set. In really good condition. The color is still really bright and there are only a few minor scratches in the pattern. I found this at a local antique store and was surprised the seller did not know it was Pyrex since they primarily sold glassware. I still ended up paying antique store prices, but it was still a fraction of what I would have paid on Ebay.

the {left behind} series

thought i'd share a few pictures of the pieces i have left behind this week...you know, in case you happen to be thrifting in southeastern manitoba. ;)

but, first, i had to share what i found today! yay! another piece of butterfly gold (for $7). i just said last week that i needed some more pieces! plus, i found my very first salt and pepper set ($0.25/ea) and it happens to be in a spring blossom pattern, which i also collect. score.

i would love to have this set of spring blossom bowls but at $30, it's a little rich for me. i've noticed that there are some pyrex pieces in my local thrift store that are being tagged differently...and the ones tagged differently are the ones that are expensive. there must have been a pyrex collector out there who decided to donate their collection and kept those price-y tags on them. hmmm. if they want these pieces to move, they're going to have to lower the prices!

an unattractive pyrex england piece that has been sitting on the shelves for months. even though it costs only $2, i don't want it in my house. ;)

these two were super hard to pass up today. one was $3 and the other was $2. and, i already have a piece from this collection but i just didn't have the cash for it today. if they are still there next week, they're making the trip home with me.

another set i'd like but this woodland set was $30.

i bought her pink gooseberry sister last week for $15. so pretty.

am not a fan of old orchard. especially at $5 for this small 401. but, there will be some very happy collector out there who'll snatch it up!

i have one piece of forest fancies but since i'm looking to get rid of it, i thought it'd be best not to pick up another one!

a whole set of forest fancies mixing bowls! again, $30 for the set.

happy thrifting!

Corelle/Pyrex Cutting Boards?

Hey, everyone!

Last weekend I went thrifting and found this sweet glass cutting board - with the forest fancies design on it! It was laying next to a 441 forest fancies bowl, and they were exactly the same. I flipped the cutting board over and it's marked Corelle. I had no idea these existed!

Does anyone else have one of these?

See what else I didn't buy while thrifting on my blog!

How It All Began

Hello! My name is Jan and I'm so excited to be a part of this blog. My friend Heather blogs on PCII and told me about all of the PC sites. I began collecting Pyrex just this pass fall. My husband and I decided that we should get rid of all of our plastic storage containers in which we store our leftovers. My friend, Kellee, has been collecting Pyrex for quite some time and when I saw her dishes I got to thinking. Old vintage Pyrex comes in all sorts of cute designs and they would be perfect for storing our leftovers. Thus began my new addiction with collecting Pyrex. It's all I use for cooking now.

This set of Forest Fancies bake n' serve was my very first Pyrex purchase. I was so excited to find whole set and with lids! I find the little mushrooms to be fun and cute.

Not long after getting my Forest Fancies I received this fun set of Spring Blossoms mixing bowls as a gift. They've become a staple in my home. I use them daily in my cooking.

My collection has grown immensely in just a few short months. It might have something to do with living near many thrift stores and the fact that my children now love to thrift as well. I blog about our family adventures over at just*imagine*heaven, so feel free to visit and say, "hi." I have a lot more Pyrex to blog about, but I'll save that for another day. :)
