I've been going to the thrifts A LOT lately in search of vintage Christmas stuff. Naturally, I hit the cookware in search of Pyrex when I'm there. It's been pretty dry mostly. There was a day that one thrift had a blue Snowflake divided (I have that), a Woodland 403 (didn't want it) and some other smaller pieces in patterns I have that weren't in good shape. I managed to find a few things and was given a piece by another neighbor who I more recently accompanied to my first estate sales.
Yes--it's true, I got a Pink Scrolls from my neighbor! I couldn't and still can't believe it. I didn't think one of these would ever be in my future. It was so nice of her, she had to endure my screeching. Also I found an old turquoise baker. First solid piece of turquoise I've ever found. It has some hard baked on stuff around the bottom that is hard to get off. I let it soak and scrubbed, but it's stubborn. There is also yellow film on part of the paint--but the paint is very shiny and hardly a scratch. I'm wondering if I should try the oven cleaner. I'm going to put the orange 043 with my Friendship as I don't have an 043 casserole, I suppose this could have also been a Daisy 043, but I already have one of those.
I also scoured the thrifts for vintage Christmas decorations. I posted a bunch of stuff on my blog along with my latest wreath #4 if you like that kinda stuff here.

Lucky you! Aren't neighbors the best?? I don't have any of the Spring Blossom, but that pattern is really starting to grow on me.
ReplyDeleteI meant Shenandoah. Got my S's messed up:))
DeleteI know what you mean Lisa. I only just started getting some Shenandoah and I really like the butter yellow, very pretty!
DeleteAny Pyrex find is a good find but a free Pink Scroll is definitely a gift! I have really good luck with using oven cleaner to remove the baked on yuck! I recently got what I thought was a yellow loaf pan that was a mess and it turned out to be a bright shiny verde loaf pan. Just spray it on and let it soak for a few minutes and then wipe away!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ranae, I knew someone mentioned the oven cleaner but I wasn't sure on how to do it.
DeleteAwesome Score!
ReplyDeleteI had a space saver with some hard baked on stuff. I used a plastic razor to scrape it off. The plastic razors are also great for scraping off stubborn price tags (like the industrial strength ones). They don't leave scratches at all.
ReplyDeleteLove the Pink Scroll!
I didn't know there was such a thing, I'm going to have to get one pronto!
DeleteGASP! What a GREAT freebie!
ReplyDeleteI still can't believe it myself!
