My first (and second) Snowflakes

Well, since I live in Eastern Canada, I should really say “My first Pyrex Snowflakes”!!
(We have lots of snow around here.)

I found the first one (without lid) at Value Village for $5.  It goes really well with my other turquoise pieces (Butterprint and Promotional Scroll which you can see here), so it’s a keeper for sure.

It's an Oval Casserole #043 - 1½ Qt made in the mid 60s.  Now I'm on the lookout for a lid.  Love the details on the snowflakes (wish the picture was better quality).

The second one was found at a garage sale.  December garage sales are pretty rare around here (way too cold), so we were thrilled to find two in town on December 1st.  At the second sale, I picked up this Charcoal Pyrex.

As far as I know, it’s an Oblong Space Saver Casserole #548 - 1¼ Qt with its lid (#550C), and was made between 1957 and 1960 (does this sound right to you?).  I understand that there are also metal lids that came with these (#550MC).  It was $3, was obviously used by its previous owner and has some scratches, but I don’t mind too much.

So here they are, together.

Since they were out for the photo shoot, a little winter friend of mine wanted to hang around with them.

And decided to jump right in.

How about you - are you going to have a White Christmas?

Happy Holidays to all Pyrex lovers!!!

  4. Cute photoshoot!! Thinking it'll snow tomorrow in Syracuse, NY. I'm ok with sime snow, but Central NY gets hammered with snow usually... but hey, at least we will all make it through "the end of the world"! Pyrex on :)

    1. Thank you - it was fun to do. I want to try to find better lighting for the next ones.

  5. Forgot to ask - Do you have any suggestions on addressing the scratches? Because it's a charcoal, I don't dare try the usual Magic eraser or BKF on it (because of the different finish).
