happy blossoms and sad blossom

 I caught the quick occurrence of sunshine spilling into my dining-room one afternoon this week. See, my backyard has 12 trees on a 1/4 acre, so sunshine spillage doesn't happen for too long.

I took advantage of the spillage.

I was lucky enough to find this complete set of Spring Blossom Serve and Store casseroles at Salvation Army, sitting on the shelf waiting for me. There was also a set of Daisy Serve and Store, but they were obviously much loved by their previous owner, and I left them for someone else. Not surprisingly, they weren't there the last time I stopped by the thrift.

I received these three from a sweet friend, and I'm absolutely thrilled. The Butterprint fridgie completes my fridgie set, I love Butterfly Gold and the Horizon Blue is my first in that pattern. It's so art deco.

My lovelies wanted to become a power Pyrex stack. I also found the turquoise fridgie on the top at Salvation Army. Unfortunately, it's pretty beat up, but I couldn't say no to that one. Technically, I need one more 501 to finish my turquoise fridgie set....but I'm going to say I need two more because this one is going to be a workhorse. Its supermodel days are long gone.

But I will still love her.

Easter Decorating with Pyrex!

Hi PC3, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

I started getting my Easter decorations out the other day and also just happened to have a few pieces of Pyrex out as well. I had a brainstorm (I know, not something that usually happens around here) and thought I'd put the two together. The pastel Pyrex just seems like a perfect fit for Spring- and the little casseroles, mixing bowls and fridgies are so cute as egg baskets! It makes me wish I had even more than the few pink Gooseberry and Butterprint pieces I have. Hey, it's an excuse to collect more!

Horizon Blue

On Ash Wednesday I thrifted a couple Horizon Blue bowls. I decided to stop in again at the same thrift store last Wednesday. Guess what I found? I was able to complete this whole set with the other two blue bowls. I just love the this color it's so pretty in person. I had seen it online liked it, but seeing it in person was so much better. It's a gorgeous blue.

To make it even better there was a small chip on the edge of the larger bowl. I asked if I could be given and discount and the guy took half off. I ended up piecing this whole set together for $13. Now that's exciting!

Pretty Primary Pyrex

Oh how I love primary colored Pyrex! I picked up this lovely little bowl at the Goodwill for 3.99. It adds a nice sunny touch to the kitchen and looks lovely with those apples.
I know this is a Pyrex site, but I know we all come across those "other" brands that we like too. The large Corning Ware Spice of Life cutting board was found at an estate sale for $5.
All other pieces in the photo were either thrifted or free.

Hello! I hope everyone had a good weekend. Mine involved finding more Pyrex that I'll share later. For my next several posts I thought I would share my current collection of Pyrex! (Grouped by patterns to avoid 50 pictures in one post!)

Spring Blossom Green

Amazing story: The first time I ever went shopping and looking for Pyrex I found four pieces! (and two pieces of Fireking that I thought were Pyrex, but that is a whole 'nother story) This was one of the pieces. It is a 407 -b.

 I found this fridgie at a thrift store at the beach. It was sitting all alone so I rescued it. =) Don't you just think fridgies are the cutest!?

 My dad found the butter dish for me. I have the whole family trained; when we go to antique stores they race to see if they can spot Pyrex before I can. =)

 I found these at GW, I think I paid $13 for these and the cups below.

These cups aren't actually Pyrex, just the Corelle that matches. They came with what looks like a cup without a handle. I am pretty sure it is a sugar bowl, but I could be wrong.

My First post here... Welcome Primary Mixing Bowls

Hello, I'm Katie.  I've been a Pyrex collector for many many years. Thanks to my mother. She gave me my first piece. I debated on what to post for my first post here at PCIII. And came to the conclusion that a simple, timeless, and classic would  be perfect. And I got them yesterday at Salvation Army.

401, 402, 403 and 404.  I don't even know if I should tell you how much they cost me.
