What a Wednesday!!

I think this might be my best pyrex thrifting day to date... However I have only been collecting since June.

Anyhow...Here is what I found:
  • On top is a 1957 Christmas Promotion piece, it is a space saver, but I can't find a pattern name.  Possibly "Embroidery"?  It needs a lid and the holder, but it is in pretty good shape! ($2.79)
  • The bottom is my first Daisy in pink!  The lid was actually found at a different store.  (A very good reason to always be on the lookout for lids!) ($2.09)

  • On the left, a 1959 "Golden Scroll"  #444 cindarella bowl, which I found out was part of a chip n' dip! ($4)
  • A fridgie with a lid, it looks to belong to the Butterfly Gold collection, but doesn't have anu pattern. ($1.50)
  • On top of the fridgie my very first teacup, looks like "Flirtation"?  But, I don't know much about teacups. ($1)
  • And finally a "Spring Blossom" #442 cindarella bowl, my first of this pattern ($3)
So all for less than $15!!!!  I would say that is a pretty AWESOME thrifting day!

I usually have much better luck at our local antique stores, but this just goes to show that there are still some great finds in the thrifting world!  These were found at four different stores.  I did go to one store that seemed to think they were an antique store, there were several bowls for $6, $8, and even $15 that I passed on because they were patterns I knew I could find again, hopefully for less.

Happy Pyrex hunting!!

Is pyrex making new pieces with patterns on clear?

I just saw this on flickr:

Is this something new? I can't find any more info on it so i was wondering if anyone knew anything. Perhaps Pyrex is dabbling in patterns again?

Finally! A find!

I've been having a bit of a Pyrex dry spell lately and I only have 2 more weeks to Pyrex hunt before I pack up all of my Pyrex and put it in storage for 2 years and 3 months! Any packing tips would be much appreciated. I begin my Peace Corps service in Senegal on the 25th, so it all has to go into hibernation.

Luckily, today I had an awesome Pyrex find!

Thanks to pyrexlove I recognized (and grabbed) the black tulip decorator casserole right away at one of my favorite thrifts, and paid a grand total of $3.21 for it! Hopefully this isn't my last piece before i go!

Autumn Mix-and-Match

Don't you love how Pyrex is great for mixing-and-matching? Although I'm still kind of new to collecting, I'm loving how easy it is to find new color combinations for every season!

Speaking of such, this is why I like brown Pyrex: it's great for Autumn! Anybody else looking forward to lots of Thanksgiving goodies baked in Early American?

I have a few of my casseroles displayed on my china hutch, just waiting for the leaves to turn!

Check me out at my new site: thriftables.com (formerly known as Hourglass Vintage.) You can see all of my awesome thrifty retro finds there, including all of my Pyrex goodies!

What is This?

Hello my fellow Pyrex junkies.  I need help.  I have exhausted Pyrex Love and Etsy in search of a casserole my husband just found.  Unless I missed something (which is entirely possible), I can't find any info on this find.

Random Pyrex Finds plus more

Here is my growing collection of fridgies:) I have found at various sales this summer. I love how they so easily are stacked.  The sky is literally the limit.  I love Pyrex!  I bet you can't tell from the collection peeking out of the background.  I never get tired of finding new pieces to add to my store or my personal collection.

Check out my other random finds at my blog HERE

Wanted also let you know that I have added a ton of new stuff to my Etsy shop and you can click Here to check it out!

A great day for Pyrex!

Hi all, SusieQT here from Practice in Time! I can't believe this is my second post in a little over a week here talking about promotional Pyrex- it's been good shopping around these parts lately.

Yesterday, I went with my pal MaryDeluxe to my first ever auction! It was kind of a weird set of circumstances, as I actually knew the lady whose estate was being auctioned off and ended up buying a bunch of her vintage clothing for my Etsy shop. The lady had been a hoarder (she wasn't really that bad yet when I met her 30 years ago) and also had a ton of crap in boxes. I ended up buying a bunch of box lots and came home with some cheap Pyrex.

I bought one box for $3 which contained the yellow and green primary mixing bowls, plus my first ever pink fridgie! The bowls are definitely one of the older sets of primary, with the round stamp on the bottom. The yellow bowl has a '48' right above the PYREX stamp, and the green has a '24'- does anyone know if this is earlier or later than the round stamp without the #?

The fridgie is a 502 with an old style lid. It's in great shape, and except for a 1 qt pink gooseberry casserole is the only pink Pyrex I own. I am so excited to have found it!

After we got done at the auction I took MaryD to my favorite thrift store, or as she aptly named it "Thrift Store Mecca". Since it was late on a Saturday afternoon, most of the good merch had been pretty well picked over, but we did come away with some neat stuff. This is the same thrift store I found the "Vintage/Grapes" promo casserole in my last post here.

After passing up some of the same items as last time (set of Woodland bowls for $$$, misc. Butterfly Gold for $$) I found this Black Rooster promo dish with its cradle for $6.50. To me, that is pretty reasonable and since this pattern is so closely related to Butterprint (it came out in the same year- 1958) I scooped it up. The handles on the cradle are cork, which I haven't ever seen.

I have never had a piece of black Pyrex before either, so I had to take a photo of the happy couple!
