I Heart Pyrex

I personally wanted to start a blog on Blogger to have a TRADE/SELLING blog (community) where people can sell or trade their Pyrex items to other fellow Pyrex collectors! In order to start trading/selling Pyrex on this blog, you must be an author to post your trade or what you are selling. This is a SAFE blog and will not tolerate any scams etc, you will be knocked off of this blog and will no longer be an author.
I want this blog to be a happy place, a fun place and safe place most of all.

I personally do not have a Facebook account and I know Facebook has some group pages where people trade and sell Pyrex. For me, Facebook is annoying and I do really love blogger, much more fun!
So please feel free to become a fellow follower the more the merrier!
As far as I know blogger does not have this "community" or "group page" like Facebook does to sell/trade pyrex, and I want to change that!!

If you do want to become an author to start selling/trading on I Heart Pyrex then please e-mail me at
PyrexJunkie@gmail.com to say that you want to be an author of this blog and I will add you!

The blog/community's site is www.Iheartpyrex.blogspot.com

Enjoy the blog and let's see what Pyrex is out there!!

See and Store Canisters

I have a small obsession with the See'n'Store canisters. They look so nice all lined up in the cabinet.

I think I finally have enough (well need one more to fill the last space). I do need the spaghetti one and would like more of the little spice ones.

Sad day when a collection is almost complete. Will be an even sadder day when it is totally complete. Less hunting for those treasures. Good thing Pyrex made so many awesome dishes, that I will never complete that collections of stuff.

one space to fill :(

Now to go on the hunt for the last one I need for the cabinet. Wish me luck!

I called PYREX!!!!!

Hello everyone, today is a beautiful day! I called Pyrex!! YESSS, I DID IT! =)
I have been thinking and thinking about why does Pyrex use clear boring things...I NEVER bought anything except the Halloween containers and why because they were decorative!

I have been wanting to call and finally did just now. I spoke with a women and said to her that I never buy the new Pyrex and I go to antique stores to buy the old Pyrex because they were so decorative, fun and colorful. She said she put in customer feedback and said that a lot of people are calling in and wanting decorative pieces. I even told her even if it is promotional that would be fantastic. So if you want the painted on look like the 50's on the Pyrex today for promotional call Pyrex at 800-999-3436 everyone's calls makes a difference!

Also I have a new secret from Pyrex to tell all of you. She said to me that she had so much feedback from people that want decorative pieces they are coming out this summer with seasonal Pyrex. Like hearts for valentines, more halloween, christmas, easter etc! Isn't that cool??!!!! She said check the stores this summer for it. Woo hoo...that is great but now if we can get them to make them how they used to with new patterns that would be even more great!

Now, I am off to the thrift stores =)

Looking for a trade: Golden Poinsetta for Some Fridgies

Hi Fellow Pyrexians,

I've acquired a second Golden Poinsettia Promo without the lid or cradle.  Now it's not mint mind you, but the red is vivid and still shiny. No chips. The gold is faded on one side in one spot, and faded on the other side.  There is a small scratch that doesn't seem to noticeable as a whole.  It's on the same side that is more faded.  So like I said, not mint...but I'm a collector and it's definitely a find that I would be keeping if I didn't already have this baby.

So, here is what I'm looking for:

1 - 501 Spring blossom Fridgie
503 Spring blossom Fridgie
503 Woodland Fridgie
1-501, 502, 503 Snowflake garland Fridgie
All of the Citrus Fridgies
471,472 or 473 red round casserole (to go with my Friendship lid)
Spring Blossom Lasagna size pan
Any Friendship bowls with the birds or red, or fridgies 401, 402

I would take a couple small fridgies, or a small and medium, or any of the others as a single in exchange.  I would prefer someone close enough to meet, but would be willing to ship in the US.  Please leave me a comment if you are interested!

Here are photos of each side: (sorry the first pic wouldn't turn)

My Favorite, Friendship

We all have out favorites. Some like certain patterns better, some like certain shapes. I am an Old Orchard lover myself, one of the few.

But I have a favorite set. A set that has more emotional attachment than anything else. 40 years ago my mom married my dad. She got this:

Yes it was a wedding gift to her. It is missing one bowl, but that is okay. Who knows when it broke, I bet my brothers had a hand in that.

My dad passed away 5 years ago, they had been divorced for over 20 years. I am glad I got a little piece of them from their "happy" times.

If you wanna see them in their 1973 glory and more pyrex check out Treasures My Husband Hates-friendship turns relationship

Primary Fridgies Found!

Hi all, SusieQT here from Practice in Time!

Well, it finally happened to me- the dreaded Pyrex drought. I went a couple of weeks without finding anything- there wasn't even a bit of Pyrex in my regular thrift store rotation. So I had to do something drastic. (OK, yes, I bought some more on eBay, but that's a post for another day!)

I actually took a whole day off and went to some thrift stores farther away that I hardly ever have time to get to. And boy, was it worth it!

We have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore near us, but it is only open Wed-Sat. It's kind of tough to get over there on those days, and I've been meaning to go there for months. I have found Pyrex there in the past, and this time I had high hopes. But this time it didn't pan out as I had hoped. I did find some other things (more on that in a sec), but the only Pyrex in the place was this lone Butterfly Gold mug. This is not a pattern I collect, but I love Pyrex mugs, and I was desperate, so I bought it.

Obviously, one mug is not enough to quench my Pyrex thirst, so I figured I'd run across town to another giant thrift store I hardly ever get to. This store is in an old warehouse, and is packed. It is also a little on the high side, price-wise. At first glance, it was a bit overwhelming, but eventually I got my bearings and got my nose on the Pyrex.

The first thing I found was the yellow 503. Now we're talking- I collect Primary, and even though I do already have this one, no way was I leaving it. Then I ran into an old friend of mine, and while we were talking I spotted the two blue 502s. I don't think she minded that I practically turned my back on her to grab these quick!

I needed one of the blue ones to almost complete my first Primary fridge set- I only need one more red 501- and finding two was a bonus! It wasn't until I was back in the car on the way home that I realized with the two yellow and two blue ones, now I only need 3 red 501s to have two complete sets! Believe me, I searched that store high and low for the red ones, but they were nowhere to be found. Well, they're out there somewhere and I will find them sooner or later, that is, if I don't break down and buy them on eBay (no, bad! bad!) Like I said, this store is a bit high on prices- the yellow was $8 and each blue was $6. They do have the old style lids and are in great shape except for a couple of nicks to the corners of the lids.

OK, well, that's the end of the Pyrex, but if you want to stick around I'll show you what else I found at the ReStore. These are tangentially Pyrex-related, so it kind of counts, right?

This is like a fridgie from the 1930s, pre-Pyrex. It is a refrigerator dish made by Hall China and is marked on the bottom "Coldspot Refrigerator Dish". It was pretty neat, and only $2.

These I bought after learning about Pyrex delphite. I knew they weren't Pyrex, but I have never seen delphite in person before, so they had to come home with me. I collect jadeite, and really never even heard about delphite until I started collecting Pyrex. They are so pretty, I hope to find more! If anyone knows about the pattern or maker of these, I'd love to hear it, because in the little research I've been able to do, I've come up empty (they are not Jeannette Cherry Blossom- that I do know). They are unmarked on the bottom, except for the numbers 1,2, and 3 (presumably for the pieces in the set.)

The best part was that they were only $4 and since I was wearing a red shirt, I got 20% off for their Valentines day sale. Score!
